I've just finished watching the first two episodes, and I'm very impressed. Well produced, quirky, spooky and intriguing with some very interesting characters. The female lead is Daisy from 'Dead Like Me' as well, acting so well that it took IMDB to remind me where I've seen her before.
And apparently it has already been cancled. I guess we will have to enjoy it while we can....

Ok, so Shell wanted me to post something up to let people know more on where we are at the moment. As some of you have been aware, shell(shaphron) has been suffering from gall stones over the last few months, which have given her on and off stomach pains that can’t be ignored and pretty much lay her out when she gets them. Normally over the counter pain killers have dealt with it, until now. Starting from Saturday night shell has been in almost constant pain, which none of our pain killers have been able to deal with. We took her in to A&E on Saturday night (with no real progress) and again on Monday, where some-one finally took us seriously and admitted her into the hospital for more tests. She is still there, which is a good thing as she has access to pain killers that actually work and they have given her scans and X-Rays. They are currently deciding if they are able to bring her operation to remove her Gall stones forward, something we would very much like for them to do.

Stolen from Fark.com, An american judge has asked lawyers defending Proposition 8 in California to prove that same sex marrage is detrimental to Hetrosexual unions
How shocking that the american right wing should actually have to back up their claims with evidence, rather that the traditional hysteria.

He's a genetically engineered Catholic rock star with acid for blood. She's a brilliant African-American magician's assistant on the trail of a serial killer. They fight crime!

The Latest from one of my new favorite websites: some one has done an animated sequel to War of the Worlds and it looks like it could be pretty funky, especially as it is an independent animated film
Story and trailer Here

Ok, this has been a weekend of peaks and troughs. For those of you that didn’t know, shelly has been having severe stomach-aches intermittent recently, starting off about 2-3 months ago, and becoming more and more frequent until last week, when she had about 12 hours of Thursday without being in pain. When I say severe pain, those of you who know Shell will realise that she is no cry baby, so when she is incapacitated by the pain, then people should realise it’s pretty bad. The GP having been pretty useless had scheduled a minor test for this week, but by Saturday that was not looking nearly soon enough. So, off we scoot to the hospital, where tests are done and blood taken over the course of about 12 hours, including an overnight stay for shell. They now think that it is possibly some-thing to do with her liver, maybe a reaction to some anti-depressants that she has been on. We hope so too, as this will be easily fixed. More tests are being run on Wednesday and Thursday, so fingers crossed. On the Peak side, I have a new Job! I had an interview last Thursday, and was told today. So as of the 12th of October, I will be working in the Legal services Department of the university. I know that a lot of people are losing their jobs around now, so this makes me feel very lucky. It also means that an entry level administration job will soon be advertised at the University of Chester paying 14-16K PA. People let me know if you are interested.
A very minor note, when I was looking around the market for something to treat shelly with this weekend, I managed to find season 3 of Battlestar Galactica for a tenner. Score. This post is part of my new effort to keep in touch with people, and generally being less of an lurker/hermit. it may extend to joining other social networking sites, such as the dreaded facebook, who knows?

OK, so Champions Online. Seeing as we are in open Beta now, I can talk about it. I know that the game is going to be released now, and I’m sure that all the regular gaming sites will have their glowing reviews, just like they do of all high profile games. I also know that some of the people who exist here might be tempted to give it a try so, I hope that my opinion can give a bit of perspective. ( Read more... )

Fresh from comic con, find the trailer Here
And it will apparently be in 3D.
And yes, that was Bruce Boxleitner in white there.
Awesome. I don't want to hope too much of it, but could this be the retro movie that manages to evoke our childhoods in the way that Transfomers didn't?

Go, on, try it. Type your name, real name that is, into google and see many hits it gets before it gets to the real you. We tried it today in the office, and I was surprised that I come up on the first page, thanks to a couple of amazon book reviews I did while I was studying.

* Torchwood S3 was fantastic.
*Overheard is like Bash.org only for offices. Has kept me sane in work this week.
*I am having a computer games blowout at the moment, juggling Half Life 2 with Oblivion, both of which are great fun, and I've never really played before.
*I need a new anime to watch after completing full metal alchemist. suggestions would be welcome.

One of the things that kinda annoys me online is the people that gripe about how there are no decent games on the Wii. Well, to be sure, there is definitely a flood of party game dross out there, but there are also some very good games out there if you know where to look. Part of my frustration with the above idea is that I can’t actually afford to many games, so there are still loads of games out there that I would like to play. I recently got the opportunity to borrow Okami from a friend, and thought I would take time to recommend it to people. ( Read more... )
So, check it out if you haven’t already, and it’s got the great advantage of being slightly old, and can be found in most game shops second hand. It was also initially released on PS2 but is allot harder to find by all accounts.

I'm not exactly the coolest kid on the internet (and i'm not exactly a kid either), so I think that part of the reason that I don't contribute much to blogs, forums and suchlike is that I always assume that stuff that I discover will be old news. I've been made aware recently that this is not necessarily the case, and rather than talking about things to people when they are not likely to remember, rather I should blog about them as then people have a much better chance to actually remember what I’m talking about. Inspired by a couple of late night movie nights at a friends, most recently watching Die, Die, You Zombie Bastards (do not watch, for the sake of your own sanity) and Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter (awesome), I thought that this should be my first recommendation: http://www.headinjurytheater.com Its the website and window into the mind of Jared Von Hindman, an artist/cartoonist who uses his site to blog, post crazy drawings, and generally do whatever takes his interest. This is frequently watching incredibly bad movies (It's this site that I found out about the above mentioned 'Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter') and then reviewing them with cutting humor. These can be found in the entertainment section of the site and it’s the part of the site I visit the most, and I think it's just started updating again after a prolonged Hiatus. Check it out if you fancy finding out about 'so bad, they're good' horror films, and it can be a good indication of which ones are just so bad it's horrible (die, die, you zombie bastards, I'm looking at you). Let Jared take the bullet, so you don't have to!

Ok, so I'm going to try to kick start my blog a bit again. Hopefully I'll manage to write something interesting. But start off with just sharing some of my thoughts about various things without getting too deep. I figured Dollhouse would be a good place to start.

(Shamelessly Stolen from Aaron Williams Blog)
This is an abomination. Made even worse by the fact its done by the same artist. Is this what Optimus Prime died for? You get points if you get more than half way through.
Fix can be found here.
